A few years ago, the Oura Ring caught the attention of many health enthusiasts, including myself. The smart ring promised to track sleep, fitness, and overall health in a discreet and stylish way. It was the perfect solution for those, like me, who didn't want the bulk of an Apple Watch but still wanted to track their health. I asked for the Oura ring for Christmas and have been using it for 2.5 years now. In this honest review, I'll share my experience and what I think about using the Oura Ring as an effective birth control tool.

Is Oura Ring Worth It?

Many people wonder if the Oura Ring is worth the investment. After using my Oura Ring for 2.5 years, I've found it to be a valuable tool for tracking my health and wellness. 

One of the benefits of the Oura Ring is the battery life. The battery life on my ring lasts almost a week. Which is convenient for those who don't want to constantly charge their device. I appreciate this because I don't feel like I'm missing out on it tracking my data while it's on the charger. 

The Oura Ring's accurate data based on heart rate helps me prioritize my sleep and make the necessary changes to improve my overall health. For example, I can easily see how just one alcoholic drink dramatically effects my sleep, making me less likely to order that drink. 

One thing I've found overtime is that my Oura Ring accurately alerts me when I may be coming down with an illness or getting sick. The readiness score it provides lets me know that I need to take it easy because my HRV or temperature was off based on my normal baseline. Having the data right in front of me prompts me to actually take it easy that day verses pushing through anyways.

Important Note:

As far as using the Oura Ring as a birth control method, I can speak of my experience but please do not take this as advise. I'd encourage anyone to do more research before solely relying on one option. However, from my experience, I can say that the body temperature sensors are accurate and predicts my period on the exact day every time. Based on my body temperature patterns (and generally being educated on how our cycles work), I can see when ovulation is occurring on the graph. I love that Oura Ring is starting to partner with other cycle synching and cycle tracking apps. But I'm hoping they expand the menstrual cycle insights more overtime. I would love to track my symptoms and keep track of everything in the Oura app, making it a one stop shop for my health!

One drawback that I have about the Oura Ring is that it doesn't pick up on certain workouts. Like weight lifting or pilates. I'm not sure why it doesn't if my heart rate seems really high. But even the most intense weight lifting workout isn't suggested as an activity. However, it is highly accurate in walking, running, hiking, and activities like this.

Overall, I'd recommend the Oura Ring for anyone looking to track their health and wellness. Its accurate data and stylish design make it a valuable investment for those who prioritize their health and want to dive deeper!

To do this, you need to follow the instructions provided in the app and connect your Natural Cycles account with the Oura app.
